Sunrise Hike
By David Newberger
As the sun begins to rise,
And paint the sky with vivid dyes,
We lace our boots, prepare to hike,
And leave behind the world we like.
We step into the woods so green,
A beauty that can’t be unseen.
The rustling leaves, the chirping birds,
All nature’s music, without words.
We walk in silence, lost in thought,
And let the nature’s beauty wrought.
The smell of pine, the fresh air,
All free us from life’s daily care.
The path before us, leads up high,
The mountains peak, against the sky.
We hike up higher, step by step,
And feel our worries, all be swept.
The muscles tire, the feet may ache,
But the sunrise, is worth the stake.
We take a break, and take it in,
The beauty of the world, so thin.
The colors of the sky above,
A sight that fills our hearts with love.
The oranges, pinks, and yellows bright,
A perfect dawn, a wondrous sight.
We hike up higher, to the top,
And let the sunrise, never stop.
The world below, like never seen,
A beauty that can’t be routine.
We bask in warmth of golden sun,
As daybreak brings its daily fun.
The world around, alive and new,
The hike to sunrise, a perfect view.
The birds that sing, and critters roam,
The world is not a place alone.
For in the mountains, we can see,
The magic of nature’s harmony.
The streams that flow, the rocks that stand,
A beauty that can’t be unmanned.
We take a breath, and feel so free,
As we stand in nature’s perfect spree.
The sun that rises, high above,
A sight that fills our hearts with love.
The beauty of the world we see,
Enraptures us, in perfect glee.
We hike back down, to life’s demands,
But carry with us, nature’s brands.
For in the morning, we did rise,
And hiked to beauty’s wondrous prize.
The hike to sunrise, a journey to self,
A chance to heal, and find one’s wealth.
To leave behind, the mundane life,
And embrace nature, without strife.
The peace we find, within our souls,
Is nature’s gift, that makes us whole.
For in the sunrise, we did see,
A chance to be, all we can be.
So if you ever feel lost or down,
Or need to get away from town.
Take a hike into the morning sky,
And see the sunrise, before your eyes.
For in that moment, you may find,
A peace within, that’s so entwined.
A chance to start anew and thrive,
And let the sunrise, bring you alive.
